Fedora Respun To Kubuntu

The Fedora project "respun" their FC 5 disks because of the number of updates needed to core packages. I experienced the updates first hand. Being new to RPM based distros, I was horrified at how long it took for downloads, updates, and installations. APT is sooooo much faster than RPM. So last night I got sick of it. Bye bye FC 5. I've moved to the number one distro on distrowatch.com's list -- Ubuntu (actually his twin brother Kubuntu).
I considered Mepis, a KDE based distro I've used before. Their next release will be based on Ubuntu instead of Debian. Mepis ships with a lot of KDE tweaks and some unique control panels. I might go back but not till after they've released once or twice under Ubuntu. The last release had troubles with the stability of Debian repositories.
I'm up and running again with Kubuntu and here's my screen shots:

Installing Kubuntu took about 40 minutes start to finish. The installer is not graphical but it does the job nonetheless. Be sure to have "free space" on your hard drive. Don't preformat or partition your file system prior to starting the installer.
I love Kubuntu. It's a nice clean KDE install. No bells, no whistles, just the power of KDE.
