Last Tuesday I went to a Microsoft TechNet conference in Greenbay. TechNet conferences are free -- and that's the best thing about them.

Other than that they're useful for getting a chance to talk to a MS rep and ask questions about where MS is going. TechNet gives programmers a chance to mingle and see some demonstrations of the latest .NET tricks from MS.

Nice conference, I wish there were something similar for open source. Wait there are ... they just cost hundreds of dollars and generally don't show up in folk's home town.

I keep thinking, yeah I should learn C# and .Net. But then I remember how much it costs to get started. Screw it. Learn Java.

I've pledged for the next TechNet I'll be wearing a Tux t-shirt. :D
